Nefertiti is a novel by Nick Drake that was published in 2006. the novel is about the power of Akhenaten Dynasti in competing between Amun priest and empire family to achieve the absolute power in every manner such as public lies, unfairness, murder and conspiracy. the conclusion is that excessive status plays an important role in achieving one's supremacy.

About the Author
Nick Drake or Nicholas Drake was born in 1961. his full name is Nicholas Rodney Drake. he studied English at Cambridge University. He was full-time writer whose work includes two prize-winning Collection of poetry, fiction and several stage work and screenplays, including film Romulus, My Father, Starring Eric Bana. He was also a figure associated at the National theater in London.

The aspects presented in this novel show that politics and power are basic factor that make people want their power recognized. Drake presents political power as a part of empire life in which is full of unfairness, public lies, intrigue, murder and conspiracy to achieve and maintain power.
Nefertiti is the most famous and beautiful woman in the world. she rules with her husband, the Pharaoh Akhenaten, over the richest, most sophisticated and power full society in the modern world. but behind these gloriuse scenes, an epic power struggle is taking place. Nefertiti and Akhenaten inaugurate an engliten new religiont to worship the sun God, the Aten. they used the religion and status to achieve and maintain power.
Nefertiti and Akhenaten  have different way of achieving and maintaining power. Nefertiti has a good aim in struggling the power to improve people's living standard. but, Akhenaten maintain the power only for his family and the empire.
the delicate balance of power in Egypt is thrown into confusion The Priesthood is stripped of his traditional authority and wealth, the army is enraged by the growing turbulance in the empire, and the people resent the loss of the ancient Gods. Old alliance are brought into doubt, the generation of inherited power and wealth are suddenly at shake. then, a couple of days before the crucial festival to celebrate the nwe capital, nefertiti suddenly vanishes.
Rai Rahotep, the youngest chief detective in the Thebes division, with rising reputation for his original methodes, is secretly assigned by Akhenaten himself to instigate. he has ten days to find the Queen in return her in time for the Celebration success will bring glory. but if he fails, he and his family will die.
the conflict presented in this novel are caused by the character's ambition. the disppointment toward the Pharaoh Akhenaten and Nefertiti rules to overcome  great depression also causes the conflict. the main conflict grows between the old Priesthood who stripped of its traditional autority and wealth with Nefertiti and Akhenaten regim.
